Best pizza in Iowa City. I have only had the Chicago Style and Flying tomato. Having grown up in the suburbs of chicago and eating Giordanos and Lou Malnatis i've been spoiled by great deep dish. This is the only place that can cure my hunger but only for a little while.

They always have pick-up ready on time or early. Lots of cheese, great toppings. It's a little pricey, but worth it in the long run. Try the Special!

I visited my friends in Iowa and thank goodness they brought us to this little gem! I like the dim pub like atmosphere. The service was fast and friendly. You have to order Moscow Mules--- the best in the world! And served in copper mugs to keep it super chill! We ordered the wings which were delicious! I'm not usually a fan of sauce but I loved the Thai chili that we ordered! The pizza was deep and cheesy and the cheese fries were great! All 4 of us were so full of we had to take most of the pizza home.

We ordered the 12" Hot BBQ pizza on our way back to town. Was not expecting it was a pickup only joint (I was researching by phone on I-80), but was actually OK with that since we ordered carryout. Cost was approximately $20'ish with tax. We had another 20-30 minutes to drive (to Mt. Vernon) followed by a settling in period while getting ready to dine. Despite being held hostage in a box for near 45 minutes, the pizza had a surprisingly crispy crust and gooey cheese. Definitely spicy, but not inedible spicy. Would definitely recommend as a carryout option.

I would give this pizza place five stars but my husband says no way. I happen to love their Flying Wheel pizza just the plain cheese. The cheese is so thick and the crust is awesome. I can only eat one slice they are so huge so remember when ordering to not get too large of a pizza. The thin crust is good too. I would recommend any pizza from Wig and Pen. Delivery can take quite a while since the pizzas take about 35 minutes or so to make so be prepared to wait a while.

As far as I'm concerned, pizza is the fifth food group and nobody does it better in Iowa City than Wig & Pen. I don't mean to brag, but I have a killer dough recipe, awesome sauce recipe, and all the necessary pizza tools. I make pizza as good or better than any place in town I've tried -- except Wig & Pen. Consistently awesome, laid back crew, excellent pie. I can't think of anything to ding them on except price. They are a tad more expensive than most places but holy cow is it worth. Nothing but love for Wig & Pen East

We love this place. The name throws you off, but you stop caring when you taste, No, Smell the Chicago style pizza. You wait forever, but it's worth it! I tried to take my boyfriend to Giadanos in Chicago, and he complained that wig and pen was better....he's right!

Wig and Pen should be translated Heavenly Bliss. Flat out the best Pizza in the area. The flying tomato should be on a flag somewhere and is good enough to eat multiple times in a week if you're down! Wig and Pen East is a carry out or delivery only joint that serves up the same great stuff you look for from the store on the Coralville strip. It may be that we haven't ventured far into the Coralville menu, but we both felt that they had more on the menu in terms of pizza options. We had "The Carnivore" and straight up y'all, it is an amazing specimen. The symphony of many pigs )Canadian bacon, sausage and pepperoni) and a single cow (beef) frolicking together beneath delicious cheese and some decorative, but necessary, slices of tomato was pretty rad! Topped with some side salads to make it healthy and date night was had. We used a livingsocial coupon and had a total that came to $28 minus 25 w/ the coupon. A great spot for some great pizza that's different from what you're used to crust wise, but that will keep you coming back!

First timer, that's all I need is one time mostly, this place lives up to the previous reviews. I've had many pies over the years , from Chicago to new york to California. And I'm surely impressed by the quality of pizza my taste buds endured. It was a cheesy flavor explosion from the heart of Iowa city. Simply delicious

Without a doubt my favorite pizza place in Iowa City, the pizza is consistently delicious and the customer service is exceptional. Delivery times are longer than some of the chains on weekends, but well worth it. I've had equally good experiences with the east branch and the highway 6 location. East location is delivery and carry out only, highway 6 has an eat-in option and a bar. The pizza is great. The flying tomato is extremely filling - semi-deep dish crust with tons of cheese and tomato slices on top. The crust is buttery and flakey, but not unpleasantly greasy. The thin crust is much less heavy, a true crispy thin crust. I've also had a number of their appetizers and enjoyed them - wings, fried zucchini, jalapeno poppers - all good, but the pizza is the star. Between the really exceptional customer service (friendly folks answering the phone, smiling delivery people) and unbelievably tasty pizza, cannot recommend this place highly enough. Only caveat, must be hungry- this is not a dainty light meal.

Great customer service! The staff was very attentive! The food was delicious and the pizza is one of the best I have had in Iowa, and I would say in the top 5 ever! This was my first visit to Wig and Pen and I have lived in the Iowa City are for almost 2 years! I cannot believe it took me so long to go there. You will not be disappointed!
